Our Grandaddy

Tuesday morning H's grandfather passed away. Grandaddy is at the top of the list of exceptional men we've been blessed to know. One of the remarks made about him at his memorial service that keeps playing in my mind is that Grandaddy was such a wonderful balance of strength and gentleness. I pray our son will acquire this same balance as he grows into a man; I pray the important men in our children's lives will also exhibit this balance.

Grandaddy was certainly a man we all could look up to. We miss him and look forward to being with him again.

The photo is of Lucia and Grandaddy last September, the month he turned 95 and she turned 1.

Phone Photos

Here are a few photos that I have collected on my phone. Above Lucia is wearing her hat and Bubby's hat. Below Elliott has found a mud puddle that was a bit deeper than he though.

Twin Girls Shower

We took the babes to Bham Alabam for a baby shower for our good friend Whit and her partner. They are expecting two girls some time in July. Everyone is doing great; we can't wait to meet the two little ones.

Elliott felt the need to help them open our gift.

Whit's mom has a gorgeous yard that the children enjoyed playing in.
After the shower Whit took us on a fun trek to a near-by creek. Everyone enjoyed throwing rocks and getting muddy.

Here the four are enjoying breakfast the next morning before we had to go our separate ways. We are glad we got to be with S. and his mamas again so soon.

Good luck to Whit and K. We know you will be great parents.

Excitement, Lucia-style

I love these two photos of Lu. They show the excitement she expressed over her finds at the Easter egg hunt. What I love is that she has the same amount of excitement for the acorn she found (below) as she does for the Easter egg (above). I am thankful for the lessons I continue to learn from my children. The lesson Lucia taught me this day: sometimes what you are not looking for can be as exciting of a find as what you are looking for.
We hope you find something exciting and unexpected in your day today.

Easter Egg Hunt, v. 2

Our church had an Easter egg hunt for the children the day before Easter. It was a beautiful day in a pretty yard. The older children hid the eggs for the younger ones. The girls seemed to get the concept a little better this time and Elliott jumped right in as though he'd done it before. They enjoyed the celebration.
