Shell Jars

While at the beach my sister and I decided to do a little art project with the youngins. We gave them baggies and took them to our favorite big beach. They collected lots of pretty shells and, Lucia especially, a good amount of sand too. Karen and I bought four jars of baby food--peas and butternut squash that we smeared on the pizzas under the pizza sauce--and cleaned them and spray painted the tops blue. When we got home from the beach the children each made their own little memento to remember September Gulf Trip 2009. They stayed focused for the project and really liked having something to hold when they were finished. Their little pieces of beach definitely look homemade, but we thought they were beautiful.
