We went to Kentucky for the week of Christmas to be with my dad and his wife Linda and her children. We had a wonderful time being together. I lived in Kentucky the first ten years of my life. Linda and her family were our neighbors. So, it is great to be reconnected with Linda, her son Chris and daughter Amy and their families in this new way. I'll post pictures of our time together shortly.
Additionally, this was our first lengthy journey with the children. When they were six months old we traveled five hours away for my Grandma's 90th birthday celebration. The trip for Christmas was twelve hours: from just shy of the Gulf to the tip top of Kentucky. We broke the trip up by staying in Nashville on both legs of the journey.
As you can see, we had a full bus in which to travel. We are thankful that we have such a comfortable, safe, and roomy ride. On the whole the babies did well. Two of the days they got breaks where they could stretch their legs, but two of the travel days they stayed in their car seats for the duration (except for diaper changes).
It feels good to have accomplished this feat and H and I both feel more confident about striking out on another journey.
